Well may be habit is a proper word for why I do my workouts. I have been training ladies independently for about 3 years now and before that I got trained for almost 2 years. Being a highlander, stamina and strength have always been in my blood. Anything you do for that long, becomes a habit. I go to the gym the same way we eat, drink, bathe, work everday. I wake up,I do it. I don’t think about it. I just do it…as we don’t think before brushing our teeth we just do it.
Here are some tips I came up with to help with this habit cultivation
- Get your workout clothes and shoes ready and place them near your bed at a visible place before you go to sleep at night. This is for those who train in the morning. This way you will be forced to get out of the bed and get your clothes on.
- Set very specific short term goals. Being specific will allow you to narrow down your focus and ignore other stuff. Give yourself 2 months and tell yourself that what all changes you want to see in your body in those two months. Like whether you want to shed those extra 4 kgs, build muscles, tone up or you just need strength. Focus on that goal specifically.
- Don’t try to achieve too much too quickly. Like I said earlier you can’t have all at once. Like I want to shed weight, tone up my muscles, build up abs. All at the same time. Give yourself time. Remember your body didn’t change overnight. It went through a lot and took its own time. Don’t expect any miracle in a week.
- Have some fun. The best way to keep yourself going is to actually enjoy yourself while working out. Choose what you enjoy the best, running, swimming, cycling, dancing, lifting, whatever you find enjoyment in, use it to push yourself with that workout everday.
